SMS are seeking the following role for ongoing Shutdowns and Project work. GAS TEST SENTRIES Requirements Responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of personnel entering confined spaces. Key duties include: Compliance & Monitoring Monitor and report that confined space access, egress, atmospheric monitoring and testing comply with the requirements of AS/NZS 2865:2009 and AS/NZS 60079.29.2:2016. Ensure that gas testing instruments are used appropriately, and results are documented accurately Conduct pre-entry atmospheric testing for oxygen, flammable gases, and airborne contaminants Risk Management & Documentation Implement site-specific procedures aligned to CSE and gas testing roles Review and enforce the permit system and associated risk management tools (e.g., JHA, SWMS) Determine frequency of atmospheric re-testing and stipulate monitoring requirements on the permit Emergency & Safety Oversight Review site emergency documentation and be prepared to initiate emergency protocols Escalate non-conforming behaviours or conditions to the Site Supervisor Stop work or deny entry if atmospheric conditions breach safety thresholds (e.g., LEL ≥ 5%) Support for Sentry Role May assist in equipment setup for monitoring by Standby Persons Ensures that continuous monitoring is maintained where required Communicate results and safety status clearly to the Permit Holder and entry team Mandatory Checks : Successful candidates will be required to have Australian permanent residence visa.
