Lead Strategic Tax Initiatives as Tax Manager at Pacific National Pacific National is seeking a highly capable Tax Manager to lead key areas of the organisation’s tax function, with a particular focus on Direct Tax Advisory , International Tax Compliance , Tax Governance , and Strategic Projects . This position plays a critical role in supporting Pacific National’s broader tax strategy, including leading the implementation of the Board-endorsed Tax Governance Framework . This hands-on role will require the Tax Manager to work collaboratively with the broader Tax team to ensure the organisation meets all annual domestic and international tax compliance obligations. In addition, the role will be responsible for leading business-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing tax processes, strengthening risk management practices, and ensuring alignment with Pacific National’s governance standards. What You’ll Do: Leading income tax advisory across the Pacific National group , including reviewing major contracts and haulage agreements, briefing external advisers, and preparing robust tax position papers. Managing international tax compliance , including BEPS Pillar 2, Country-by-Country Reporting, and transfer pricing for our offshore Captive Insurer. Enhancing our Tax Governance Framework , ensuring it aligns with ATO guidelines and supports ongoing transparency and readiness for potential ATO reviews. Support the preparation and delivery of the annual income tax returns and tax provision calculations for group financial reporting. Monitoring and responding to tax law changes , assessing impacts to the business and leading implementation of necessary changes to maintain compliance. Providing tax input on commercial projects and acquisitions , supporting decision-making across the business with sound, practical advice. Contributing to tax policy and industry discussions , representing Pacific National in industry forums and consultation processes to help shape future legislation. Raising internal awareness of changes in tax law and governance requirements and advising on related risks and opportunities. What You’ll Bring: Chartered Accountant / CPA qualified and/or Masters of Tax/Law equivalent 6 years' experience in a tax role (top 100 listed company, Australian subsidiary of major multinational company, Big 4 / second tier accounting firm or combination thereof) Extensive experience in preparing tax position papers and knowledge of income tax including capital allowances and repairs & maintenance Extensive experience in preparing income tax returns and tax effect accounting calculations Knowledge in preparing for ATO assurance and justified trust reviews including testing of tax governance frameworks Experience with tax due diligence, contract review and post-acquisition integration desired Experience with using CCH Global Integrator (Income Tax) highly desired Why join us?
