About the Role: As Head of Credit, you will lead and manage our Credit team, ensuring timely and sound credit decisions that align with Shift’s risk appetite. Your leadership will help elevate credit practices, enhance customer experience and contribute to Shift’s growth. This is a high-impact, strategic role suited to someone with strong commercial lending experience, team leadership skills and a sharp analytical mindset. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams - Sales, Product, Data, Risk and more, to guide deal structuring, improve credit decisioning and support portfolio management. Your role is essential to balancing risk and reward while supporting Shift’s innovative financial products. What you'll do: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Credit Analysts focused on middle-market lendingOversee credit assessments and loan approvals, ensuring alignment with Shift’s risk appetiteReview complex deals and provide credit decisions within SLA timeframesProvide guidance and training to the Credit team and Sales/Relationship ManagersUse data and customer insights to support structured, risk-aligned lending decisionsEnsure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards (including RG requirements)Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, Settlements, Risk, Product, Tech)Engage directly with brokers and customers to understand their needs and assess riskSupport continuous improvement through credit policy enhancements and system/process changesPartner with Risk and Legal for complex or borderline decisionsProvide reporting on credit trends, performance, and risk to internal stakeholders What you'll bring: Previous credit delegation authority and experience making lending decisionsStrong knowledge of the business lending market, especially SME and mid-market segmentsProven leadership experience, including coaching and team developmentExperience assessing commercial credit via financials and/or bank statementsPrior exposure to data-led credit analytics or working with embedded finance products is a plusExceptional analytical skills and strong attention to detailA logical, risk-aware mindset with strong communication and stakeholder management skillsExperience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment Key benefits: Collaborative teams – a flat structure means everyone can learn from colleagues and senior leaders around the business.
