About the branch The Fisheries Management Branch is responsible for developing & implementing policies, management arrangements & administering research & stock assessment processes which are consistent with AFMA's legislative objectives for fisheries. The position As a Fishery Manager you will be responsible for: the day-to-day management of specific fisheries; and leading and managing a multi-skilled team in pursuit of AFMA's legislative and organisational objectives as they relate to fisheries management. The successful applicant must be able to supervise a small team with staff across multiple locations. A strong focus will be on the candidate's integrity and ability to communicate, represent AFMA in public and community engagement, build relationships and manage people. The successful applicant will report to the Senior Manager of the relevant section. The primary focus of the position is to deliver ecologically sustainable, cost-effective, and efficient fisheries management services to the government, the fishing industry, and other key stakeholders on behalf of the Australian community.
