Overview Executive Director Student Accommodation — 24 September 2025 Position Purpose To champion a strong and successful student accommodation industry and represent the interests of the Student Accommodation Council in Australia. The key responsibilities will include Be the public champion of the purpose-built student accommodation sector. Lead public debates on issues relevant to the sector. Achieve a strong media profile for the Student Accommodation Council and the sector which reinforces our desired brand. Lead public facing communications campaigns in support of advocacy and branding objectives. Be the chief advocate for the student accommodation sector. Develop policy positions, research and submissions to support sector interests. Develop and deliver advocacy and campaign strategies in support of our objectives. Implement strategies to retain and attract Student Accommodation Council members. Provide high quality corporate communications to members (newsletter, alerts, web content, social media presence). Set the Property Council's overall strategy and business plan for the Student Accommodation Council (with approval of the Student Accommodation Council). Prepare the Student Accommodation Council annual budgets for approval and manage the financial performance. The ideal candidate will have Excellent understanding of political and policy development processes and demonstrated experience in policy development and advocacy in a similar role. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills (written and verbal), including interpersonal, negotiation and advocacy skills. Agile mindset with superior problem solving, analytical and conceptual skills. Self-starting with the ability to participate as part of a positive executive team, founded on trust, collaboration and shared accountability. Experience in media and media relations. Knowledge of the education and property sectors would be an advantage but not essential. Stronger leadership experience an advantage but not essential.
