About the Opportunity Westgold Resources is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Mine Geologist to join our underground operations team. Reporting to the Senior Geologist, this role is pivotal in collecting and interpreting geological data to support optimal ore extraction and contribute to the success of our mining operations. This position operates on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster, offering a balanced work-life rhythm while contributing to a dynamic and supportive team environment. Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed underground geological mapping and sampling with precision. Validate geological data from diamond drill holes and face mapping to ensure high-quality inputs for modelling. Perform daily inspections of ROM and stope areas. Collaborate closely with the mining team to optimise ore recovery. Log diamond drill core as required or directed by the Senior Geologist. Monitor and report daily production metrics. Maintain underground sample QAQC protocols to a high standard. Provide mentorship and guidance to Junior Geologists. Assist in the design and execution of drill programs. Conduct stope reviews and reconciliations. What You’ll Bring Minimum of 2 years’ experience in underground mine geology. Tertiary qualification in Geology. Previous experience in gold mining operations. Valid Manual Driver’s Licence. Current National Police Clearance (issued within the last 12 months). Ability to successfully complete Westgold’s pre-employment process.
