Construction is responsible for delivering a range of infrastructure projects, such as civil construction and road network maintenance. The Construction branch carries out essential activities including asphalt production, paving, and overseeing major projects. The Role We are seeking a Planner to support the planning and delivery of civil construction projects throughout Brisbane. In this role, you will work closely with planners, coordinators, and operational teams to develop and manage project schedules, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will be instrumental in ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and professionalism. This position requires strong collaboration, customer focus, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives. You will identify and schedule work activities, maintain technical and operational knowledge in project programming, and utilise Council’s project management software to develop and maintain project plans. You’ll work closely with technical staff, provide office and site-based support where needed, and ensure accurate documentation throughout the planning and delivery process. To be successful you will have: previous experience working in planning and delivery within the construction industry the capability to identify work tasks and create safety and construction plans highlighting key issues skills in coordinating and building teamwork while collecting info for project documents the ability to support planners/coordinators with record-keeping, permits, safety and environmental documents, and preparing work packages sound working knowledge of computer software applications like Microsoft Excel, Word, Microsoft Project Professional, and SAP the ability to guide team direction, give/receive feedback, and meet performance goals to support a culture of excellence strong written and verbal communication and coordination skills for gathering information to create high-quality project plans.
