About Women 4 STEM Women for STEM was founded in 2005 and is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering young girls and women to pursue careers in STEM by providing resources, mentorship, and career opportunities. We host 5 programs and over 40 events each year, such as Go Girl, Go for IT, Whats Hot in Tech, and the Grad Girls Program to inspire young minds and foster diversity in STEM. About the Grad Girls Program The Grad Girls Program is a flagship initiative of Women 4 STEM, designed to inspire and empower female students to explore careers in STEM. The program features engaging workshops, interactive careers expo, panel discussions, and webinars, culminating in impactful events. Across the 9-month Program, participants connect with STEM professionals, gain hands-on experience, and envision themselves in STEM careers Role Overview On-The-Day Volunteers provide essential support during Grad Girls Main events and Partner events. Youll help create a welcoming and professional experience for attendees by assisting with tasks such as registration, ushering, participant support, and bump in and bump out activities. This role is ideal for people who want to contribute in a flexible way, gain exposure to the Grad Girls program, and support gender diversity in STEM without needing to commit to ongoing weekly hours. Responsibilities include: Assist with event set-up - including registration desk, signage, any seating, catering preparation, etc. Welcome attendees, manage registrations, hand out name badges, and event materials as required Support accessibility and inclusion requirements, providing assistance if requested Act as an usher during sessions, provide directions and help keep the event flowing smoothly Assist with event pack-up (bump in) and pack-down (bump out) Provide a friendly, professional presence on behalf of Grad Girls and Women 4 STEM Contribute to post-event debriefs and reporting by sharing observations and recommendations Who are we looking for? Friendly, approachable, reliable, enthusiastic and willing to pitch in when needed Good communication and teamwork skills Comfortable in busy, fast-paced environments Willing to be hands-on with a range of tasks on the day Attention to detail, with a commitment to high-quality event delivery Confident with Zoom and Teams; Google Meet experience a bonus Experience with Slack is an advantage (not essential) A passion for gender equality and supporting diversity in STEM education What is the commitment?
