We are looking to fill the role of Director of the Strategic Investigations 2 team. The team is one of two Strategic Investigations teams within the Office that conduct own motion investigations and inquiries on behalf of the Ombudsman under the Ombudsman Act 1976. The team draft reports with recommendations, suggestions and comments to agencies with the aim of influencing systemic improvement in public administration across all the agencies we oversee. These reports or statements about these reports are often published. The Strategic Investigations teams also monitor and assess agency implementation of recommendations and suggestions made by our Office and draft reports for publication. Directors are a valued part of the Office's executive and will work collaboratively across the Office to achieve outcomes. We are seeking strong leaders and highly capable managers who are passionate about serving the Australian Community and influencing change. The key duties of the position include Duties are to be performed under broad direction of the Senior Assistant Ombudsman (SESB1) of the Defence, Investigations, ACT and Legal Branch and in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct. The Directors will demonstrate and uphold the office values of independence, impartiality, integrity, accessibility, and professionalism. In this role you will: lead and manage a small team to conduct own motion investigations and inquiries on behalf of the Ombudsman, including drafting reports with recommendations, suggestions and comments for change and improvement monitor and assess agency implementation of recommendations and suggestions and comments prepare reports and other materials for publication. provide timely, evidence-based advice to the Executive on matters that may arise. build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote the objectives of the team and the Office generally. lead and contribute to the Office's objectives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and building staff capability.
