About the roles The Office of General Counsel (OGC) is a team of approximately 110 lawyers who specialise in the provision of legal advice and assistance to the Commonwealth Government on constitutional and public law, complex statutory interpretation and the development, implementation and administration of legislation. OGC also acts for the Commonwealth in High Court constitutional litigation and coordinating the conduct of other cases involving constitutional issues. This work touches on core aspects of Australia's system of government, with often enduring implications for the Commonwealth and the nation. In these roles you will: work in the Commonwealth as a trusted legal advisor provide legal advice and assistance to clients build strong client relationships and identify and develop new business opportunities. About you These roles will suit lawyers with experience in public law and knowledge of and a strong interest in constitutional law. The successful candidates will ideally have: generally, at least 1-5 years' experience in the relevant field excellent problem solving, research, analytical and writing skills the ability to work under pressure, excellent interpersonal skills and persuasion skills capacity to meet personal net production/productivity/revenue targets.
