As the General Manager – Engineering , you will be at the forefront of our technology advancements, ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that align with HBF’s strategic objectives. Leading our Engineering function, you will foster a high-performance culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement and drive the design, development, and delivery of cutting-edge technology solutions. Key responsibilities include; Engineering Leadership: Oversee the design, development, and deployment of software products, platforms, and integrations. Ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality delivery of engineering projects while building and leading a high-performing team nationally. Innovation and Excellence: Implement robust DevOps, CI/CD, and automation practices to improve speed and reliability while driving innovation and adoption of modern engineering practices, tools, and technologies. Strategic Alignment: Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with HBF30 and business objectives, ensuring engineering solutions support scalability, security, and compliance with industry standards. Stakeholder Management: Provide highly visible leadership to team and peers, ensuring effective communication and demonstrating accountability and integrity aligned with HBF values. Manage Executive level stakeholders and facilitate employee development activities. Risk and Compliance: Maintain compliance with regulatory and security requirements, including APRA and privacy standards while embedding risk management, quality assurance, and 'security by design' principles across engineering processes. This opportunity is open to candidates based in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. About you You have a proven track record in leading engineering teams to deliver complex technology solutions, spanning across software development, DevOps, and CI/CD practices. Using your strategic mindset you align engineering initiatives with business objectives, while collaborating with executive-level business leaders to deliver exceptional experiences. You are a proactive problem-solver, thriving in fast-paced environments, navigating complex challenges with ease. Your excellent communication skills combined with your technical knowledge enable you to convey concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability. You are a highly visible leader, collaborating with peers to ensure effective communication while demonstrating accountability and integrity aligned with organisational values. You excel in building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. You also have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s preferred) along with several years’ experience in engineering leadership roles, ideally within financial services, health insurance, or regulated industries.
