About the Role As economic cycles continue to create restructuring opportunities across Western Australia's diverse economy, our client's Restructuring & Insolvency team is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join their market-leading Perth practice. This represents an exceptional opportunity for a commercial lawyer with restructuring experience or strong commercial litigation skills to develop expertise in one of the law's most challenging and rewarding specialisations. You will work on high-stakes matters alongside leading insolvency practitioners while building relationships with key players in Western Australia's business community. Key Responsibilities Advise insolvency practitioners on voluntary administrations, liquidations, and receivership appointments Assist with complex restructuring transactions including schemes of arrangement and deeds of company arrangement Provide strategic advice on directors' duties, insolvent trading, and corporate governance during distress Manage asset recovery actions including preference payments, uncommercial transactions, and breach of duty claims Advise secured and unsecured creditors on enforcement actions and debt recovery strategies Handle sale of business transactions and distressed asset disposals Provide regulatory advice on ASIC requirements, reporting obligations, and compliance matters Conduct due diligence on distressed acquisitions and investment opportunities Manage court applications including winding up applications, examinations, and approval processes Coordinate with insolvency practitioners, administrators, and other professional advisers Draft complex transaction documents and court applications Support business development activities and client relationship management Senior Associate Role Expectations You will be expected to: Provide expert advice on complex restructuring and insolvency matters with appropriate supervision Take day-to-day responsibility for insolvency appointments and restructuring transactions Demonstrate exceptional analytical skills in assessing complex corporate structures and asset positions Show commercial acumen in identifying recovery strategies and value preservation opportunities Communicate effectively with insolvency practitioners, creditors, and distressed company stakeholders Build and maintain relationships with key players in Western Australia's insolvency and restructuring market Work effectively under pressure in time-critical and commercially sensitive situations Understand economic trends and industry developments affecting client sectors Lead negotiations with multiple stakeholder groups in complex restructuring scenarios Contribute to team knowledge development and mentor junior lawyers About the Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who has: 4-8 years' experience in restructuring & insolvency, commercial litigation, or corporate law Strong understanding of the Corporations Act, insolvency law principles, and court procedures Experience with voluntary administrations, liquidations, or corporate restructuring transactions Excellent analytical skills and ability to work with complex financial information Outstanding drafting and advocacy skills with court application experience Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage competing stakeholder interests Proactive approach with genuine interest in insolvency and restructuring developments Ability to work effectively under pressure in deadline-driven environments Client relationship skills and desire to build networks in the Western Australian business community Collaborative approach and commitment to team success Highly Regarded: Previous experience at a specialist insolvency practice or top-tier firm Understanding of Western Australia's key industry sectors including resources, construction, and retail Experience with cross-border insolvency matters or complex group restructurings Professional development in corporate law, commercial litigation, or banking & finance Chartered Accountant qualification or strong financial analysis skills Why Apply?
