The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) is the Australian Government's primary authority on radiation protection and nuclear safety. Our purpose is to protect the Australian people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation, through understanding risks, best practice regulation, research, policy, services, partnerships and engaging with the community. The Office of the CEO comprises five sections: Communications, Governance & Strategic Partnerships, Risk & Quality, Security & Insider Risk and National Uniformity Policy & Secretariat. The National Uniformity Policy and Secretariat Section is responsible for ensuring the CEO can deliver on their legislative mandate to promote uniformity of radiation protection and nuclear safety policy and practices across jurisdictions of the Commonwealth, the States and the Territories. This is achieved through working closely with internal experts and external stakeholders including the Department of Health and Aged Care and regulatory counterparts in each State and Territory to progress various policy issues. Additionally, the Section will provide strategic advice to the agency on matters of regulatory policy including the development of relevant Codes and Standards. Why work for us? The key duties of the position include The role supports the National Uniformity Policy and Secretariat Section to deliver on its various accountabilities and support the agency in its strategic work. You will support ARPANSA's relationships with radiation regulatory counterparts in the States and Territories and help represent ARPANSA through the work of its advisory bodies. As part of a team approach, you will support the secretariat function for the Radiation Health and Safety Advisory Council, and the Radiation Health Committee. Your work will include providing support to senior management to deliver key strategic outcomes through secretariat support and advice and help develop policies and advice as required. Key accountabilities Support key stakeholder relationships to ensure ARPANSA's engagement with State and Territory regulators produces value for ARPANSA and cements ARPANSA's reputation as a best practise regulator and advisor of radiation protection and nuclear safety. Provide secretariat support to the agency's statutory advisory bodies, including liaison with members to coordinate meetings, working groups, papers and minutes. Support the relationship with the relevant portfolio department on national uniformity issues. This includes regular communications on key issues. Support any work programs to mature the national regulatory frameworks. Assist in the development, implementation and updating of systems, guidelines, policies and procedures relevant to the function of the section. Help represent ARPANSA at stakeholder meetings and events.
