City Communication is made up of fun, hard-working communication specialists in social media, multimedia, marketing, brand, campaign strategy, digital marketing, editorial, public affairs and sponsorship. The team works in close partnership with stakeholders and program areas to provide strategic communication advice and coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of Council communication campaigns and initiatives. The Role As the Social Media Marketing Officer, you will be comfortable juggling multiple content priorities for Brisbane City Council’s social media channels. Working in a team of likeminded professionals, you will partner with a diverse client group across Council to create high quality content and creative for Council’s social media channels. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who is passionate about social media. Variety is the spice of life in this diverse role, where you will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a range of social media campaigns and initiatives. Day-to-day in the role you will: assist with the ideation, development, implementation, monitoring, optimisation and evaluation of social media content and campaigns for a range of Council programs and projects, within budget and established timeframes produce social media content that is engaging, accurate, timely and responsive and in line with Council’s brand guidelines proactively develop and assist in the development of rich media for Council’s social media channels and other forms of multimedia, including internal and external facing images and video build relationships and establish positive working partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the organisation keep up to date with social media research, theory and new trends and apply these when developing and implementing social media strategies. To be successful you will have: strong knowledge of key social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and X) with hands-on experience creating engaging content tailored to diverse audiences experience using social media management and monitoring tools, with working knowledge of multimedia software such as Adobe Photoshop for content creation skills in developing social media plans and rich media content that align with broader marketing and communication strategies in large or complex organisations ability to interpret social media analytics and insights to refine content strategies and effectively manage online communities knowledge of current social media trends and issues, and the ability to apply this knowledge to enhance communication outcomes and audience engagement demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and influence a wide range of stakeholders in a customer-focused, service-oriented environment excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and channels with clarity and impact.
