DXC.com Role Overview The Chief Architect will serve as the senior technical authority working in partnership and on site with a public sector client, responsible for defining, governing, and delivering enterprise-wide digital solutions. This role requires deep technical fluency, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across government departments. The Chief Architect will lead solution design from concept to production, ensuring alignment with public sector governance, security, and service continuity requirements. Key Responsibilities Define and maintain enterprise architecture roadmaps aligned with government IT strategy, security governance, and compliance frameworks. Lead the design and delivery of digital solutions, including prototypes, MVPs, and production systems, tailored to public sector needs. Collaborate with agency stakeholders to identify innovation opportunities and translate policy and operational challenges into technical strategies. Present solution architectures and value propositions to senior executives, including CIOs, Directors, and cross-agency leadership. Ensure all service designs incorporate IT service continuity, disaster recovery, and business impact analysis. Demonstrate emerging technologies and innovation initiatives on a biannual basis to support digital transformation. Prepare functional performance specifications, design documentation, and contribute to procurement and vendor evaluation processes. Maintain awareness of technology currency and provide proactive risk and change advisories with minimum one-month notice. Lead cross-agency, multi-disciplinary teams in collaborative solution development. Establish reusable design practices and frameworks that support scalability and interoperability across government platforms. Desired Experience and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). 10 years in enterprise architecture, technical consulting, or business solutions roles, preferably within or for government agencies. Proven experience in public sector digital transformation, service design, and stakeholder engagement. Deep understanding of modern digital technologies, architecture modelling, automation, and IT security. Hands-on experience with coding in modern languages, mobile and backend development, and data platforms. Familiarity with agile and lean methodologies (e.g., SAFe, Scrum, DevOps) and their application in government contexts. Strong influencing and communication skills—able to simplify complex ideas for technical and non-technical audiences. Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving cultural change in large organisations. Desired Skills and Competencies Strategic thinking across policy, operations, and technology domains. Ability to create business-aligned value propositions and innovation strategies for public services. Expertise in service design, ITSCM validation, and business impact analysis. Knowledge of government procurement, compliance, and digital service standards. Comfortable working with suppliers and partners to develop proofs of concept and prototype solutions.
