Reporting to the General Manager, Contracts and Controls , the Senior Commercial Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the Project Director with all aspects of commercial management. The role is responsible for the guidance of the contracts/commercial team on the (UWF) project, and for oversight over the contract administration methods, practices, and procedures. The Senior Commercial Manager is also responsible for establishing the project practices and procedures that ensure sound contract management principles are applied This position has a strong focus on the development, implementation, and governance of Contract Administration processes. Once the project is up and running, you will be required to identify potential problems and set a course of actions that can be taken to minimise the business exposure while reporting issues via line management, including the negotiation and resolution of contract changes, variations and claims. This posotion can be based in any of SQE'S East Coast offices and requires weekly site travel. The role can also be DIDO/FIFO. Key Responsibilities Contract Strategy & Oversight Develop, review, and administer project contracts to ensure compliance with scope, standards, and company policies. Maintain project baselines and monitor contractual obligations. Commercial & Financial Management Oversee progress claims, invoicing, and subcontractor payments. Track financial performance, including variations, forecasts, and margins. Stakeholder Engagement & Dispute Resolution Provide strategic guidance on claims, negotiations, and dispute resolution. Ensure timely certification of payments and variations. Governance & Documentation Maintain accurate contract documentation and contribute to monthly cost reporting. Ensure adherence to governance and financial procedures. Team Leadership & Development Manage and lead the work of a team; provide motivation, encouragement, and opportunities for development. About You 15 years’ experience delivering complex projects. Proven expertise in managing major contracts, variations, and EOT claims. Strong commercial acumen and ability to navigate complex deal structures. Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite. Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Law, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or Contract Management. Current Driver’s License.
