The Role Marma Ag is a family-owned and operated broadacre cropping business in Murtoa, with operations extending to Dooen, Longerenong, Rupanyup, and Campbells Bridge. Their grain property is dedicated to innovation and sustainability, producing wheat, barley, lentils, canola, faba beans, and prime lamb for Australian and international markets. As a Farm Hand at Marma Ag, you will play a vital role in their farm's daily operations. You will work both independently and collaboratively to enhance productivity. This hands-on position involves a variety of tasks throughout the farming cycle. As a broadacre farm operator, your key responsibilities include commodity carting, spreading, sowing, spraying and performing essential paddock preparation work. During seeding, you will operate a 60ft Morris Quantum and a John Deere air cart and use their Goldacre self-propelled sprayer and Stoll tow-behind sprayer for spraying tasks. During harvest, you will operate John Deere X9 harvesters and JCB and Dunstan chaser bins, transporting grain and commodities to and from the paddocks and their on-farm storage system. Additionally, you will assist with machinery and infrastructure maintenance and ensure that silo areas and the general farm environment remain clean and tidy along with spot and fence line spraying around the farm. The business is dedicated to offering ongoing personal and skill development training through opportunities such as GRDC and BCG workshops and field days along with other short course opportunities. The Offer The successful candidate will receive a generous salary package that includes a work car and fuel allowance. However, please note that accommodation is not available for this role now. Therefore, candidates must either live locally or secure a rental property, for which rental assistance may be offered. The location is 25 km from Horsham and 8 km from Murtoa. Both areas are self-sufficient communities, with access to hospitals, schools, and shops. The Ideal Candidate Ideally, the candidate should have at least 2-3 years of experience in broadacre cropping and possess a positive attitude towards learning and working in a close-knit team with a strong focus on community engagement. The following attributes are also essential: An HC Truck license or the willingness to upgrade to an HC license is essential. A current Chemical Certificate (or the willingness to obtain one). The ability to work autonomously, within a team, and for extended periods when required. Reliability, trustworthiness, and strong communication skills. Mechanical knowledge and experience in welding are distinct advantages.
