This is a rare opportunity to join a leader in the Financial Services sector with a strong presence across Australia and New Zealand. Due to growth and new strategic financial goals our client is seeking a Financial Controller to report directly to the CEO, based in Christchurch Working closely with the Senior Management team and Broking Managers, you will play a critical role linking the Finance function with commercial operations. This is a hands-on, strategic position where you’ll deliver financial insights, drive performance, and contribute to operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Preparation and delivery of financial and management reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Partner with broking managers and leadership, translating financial data into actionable insights that drive business performance. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and rolling financial planning processes. Provide commercial analysis on commission modelling, client profitability, revenue pipelines and market opportunities. Support M&A activity including due diligence, integration, and post-acquisition analysis. Manage external audit requirements and liaise with the AUB Group Finance team. Oversee financial controls, compliance, and risk management across the business. Mentor and develop Finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. About You You are a commercially astute and qualified finance professional (CA/CPA) with at least five years of post-qualification experience, ideally within insurance, financial services, or professional services. You have a proven background in financial and management reporting, combined with strong commercial acumen and advanced analytical skills. Experience in mergers and acquisitions is essential, while prior exposure to a Big 4 or similar professional services environment would be highly regarded. As a leader, you bring energy and clarity to your team, with the ability to mentor and develop people while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Your exceptional communication skills allow you to influence stakeholders at all levels and present financial information in a way that drives clear business outcomes.
