About the Internship Program Essential Energy are currently accepting applications for our 2025/2026 Internship program. Our paid internship program offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience and exposure to real world projects. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, participate in team meetings and contribute to meaningful projects that align with their field of study. The internship program will run from December 2025 to February 2026 to coincide with the summer university break. About the Internship Opportunities Network Engineering: Electrical Engineering As an engineering intern in the Network Engineering team, you'll be assisting with the provision of engineering expertise across a wide range of electrical network assets including cables, poles, conductors, transformers, regulators, reclosers, switchgear, streetlights and more. In addition to learning about our electrical network assets you’ll be involved with failure analysis, asset and network strategies and the development of standards, specifications, and operational procedures to ensure safety, reliability, and performance across the network. We're looking for someone who thrives in a technically complex environment and is passionate about learning and developing knowledge of an electricity distribution network. If you're completing an electrical engineering degree and ready to bring your engineering expertise to a dynamic, forward-thinking team, we want to hear from you. Strategy and Architecture: IT-General As an intern working with Strategy and architecture team you'll gain hands on experience in shaping enterprise technology landscape. Work alongside experienced enterprise and solution architects, contribute to projects and develop skills in strategy and architecture. As an intern, you’ll support a range of initiatives including research and analysis of emerging technologies, assisting in the development of architectural frameworks, preparing presentations and documentation for strategic reviews, uplift architecture site and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support solution design. You’ll also help evaluate digital tools, contribute to innovation workshops, and participate in team planning sessions. Digital Asset Management Technical Engineer: Aerospace As part of the Digital Asset Management (DAM) team, the intern will contribute to high-impact initiatives that enhance asset intelligence and operational efficiency using Digital Twin capabilities and technologies. The student will be involved in projects such as using LiDAR and Satellite technologies to further enhance Digital Twin capabilities which support the further development of Digital Asset Management. These activities are designed to provide hands-on experience in digital modelling, data validation, and strategic asset planning, all of which are central to our mission of delivering global best practice asset management To succeed in this role, the student should have foundational skills in data simulations, digital modelling, and digital technologies, along with a keen interest in aerospace, infrastructure and utility networks. Preferred qualifications include studies in Electrical or Aeronautical Engineering, Data Science, or Asset Management. IT Commercial & Vendor Intern: Business, Commerce, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, Procurement Join Essential Energy’s dynamic Commercial & Vendor team and gain hands-on experience in the strategic and operational aspects of vendor management, commercial coordination, and sourcing. This internship offers exposure to real-world procurement frameworks, contract governance, and digital transformation initiatives supporting one of Australia’s leading energy providers. Interns will rotate across three core focus areas including vendor analyst support, commercial coordination and souring and procurement exposure.
