This 5,500-acre operation runs 5,000 dual-purpose Merinos, 500 top-line Angus breeders, and 200 ha of centre pivot irrigation, producing high-quality wool, cattle, and crops. About the Role We're looking for an enthusiastic Farm Hand with a genuine passion for livestock and agriculture to support the daily operations of this progressive farming business. You'll work hands-on with livestock, crops, and pasture management, contributing to an intensive rotational grazing system to maximise production and sustainability. This role offers the chance to grow with the business, supporting improvements across less productive and forested areas. Key Responsibilities Assist in all areas of livestock husbandry, including Merino sheep and Angus cattle management, focusing on fine wool production and cattle feeding regimes. Support crop and pasture management, including pivot irrigation and fodder production. Contribute to the implementation of rotational grazing systems to optimise productivity. Perform general property maintenance and assist with coordinating contractors for outsourced activities. Collect and record data to support farm operations and decision-making. Work closely with the farm team, reporting to the owner, to achieve business goals. The Successful Candidate Must Have At least 5 years of practical experience working with intensively grazed sheep and cattle, ideally with Merinos, rotational grazing, or pivot irrigation. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and passion for livestock and agriculture. Ability to obtain or hold relevant licences (e.g., vehicles, machinery, First Aid, Chemical Handling). Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset. A team of working dogs. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, showcasing skills in maintaining and operating farm machinery and equipment. They should approach their work with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for driving continuous improvement within the agricultural sector. Problem-solving skills and a commitment to innovation are essential, as is the ability to build relationships within the industry. Furthermore, a proactive approach to staying informed about current industry trends will greatly benefit the candidate in this role. What's On Offer We offer a competitive remuneration package that includes a 4-bedroom study family home. You'll be able to work on a stunning coastal property with a supportive family-owned business, contributing to its long-term sustainability. The property is located near the vibrant seaside community of Falmouth, with access to schooling and services in nearby St Mary's and surrounding towns, and major centres like Hobart (230km) and Launceston (140km) within a reasonable distance. How to Apply Please submit your up-to-date resume and at least three contactable references to apply. Preference will be given to applicants with a cover letter explaining why you are passionate about livestock and agriculture and suited to this role.
