Senior Tax & Statutory Accountant (16-Month Fixed Term Contract) Smart Tax Search are delighted to be partnering with a leading FMCG organisation on the search for a Senior Tax & Statutory Accountant to join their Financial Control team, on a 16-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Tax Manager, this role will suit a motivated professional with strong tax compliance and statutory accounting skills who enjoys working across a dynamic and complex business. Permanent opportunities may be available for the right candidate. Key responsibilities will include: Preparation of Australian corporate tax returns (consolidated group and co-operative companies), liaising with external advisors. Preparation and submission of FBT returns with support from consultants. Preparation and lodgement of BAS and associated payments. Preparation, lodgement, and payment of monthly PAYG instalments. Preparation of periodic tax effect accounting, including reports to US parent and annual return-to-provision calculations. Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS, and acting as main contact for external auditors. Preparation of accounts, filings and statutory requirements for the New Zealand entity. Preparation of quarterly cash flow forecasts. Preparation of annual US reporting packages (Form 5471). Maintenance of SOX documentation for tax processes and performance of SOX fixed asset tests. Reconciliation of book vs. tax fixed asset registers and review of tax effective lives of additions. Calculation and reporting of royalty expenses including withholding tax. Completion of balance sheet reconciliations and government/financial surveys. Assisting with GST compliance, business support and ATO enquiries/audits. Contributing to ad hoc projects across business areas including delivery, promotions, foundation and supply. Skills, experience and qualifications required: CA/CPA qualified (or working towards). Strong experience preparing statutory accounts and exposure to the audit process. Background in corporate income tax and/or tax effect accounting. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Experience with tax software or transformation projects highly regarded. Strong communication skills with an open, clear and collaborative style. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple deadlines. Self-starter with high attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills. Why apply?
