Who we are The Content, Strategy and Production team is at the forefront of the department's, internal, corporate and strategic communications, delivering on the priorities of the department and government. We are a highly-skilled multidisciplinary team comprising of internal and external communications strategists, social media experts and multimedia professionals. We work together and with the wider branch to develop and deliver considered and strategic communications strategies and content plans that achieve the objectives of our clients. Communications Branch provides media and communications support to the Prime Minister, portfolio ministers, the department, portfolio agencies and taskforces. What you will do In this important and highly valued role, you will help reform organisational culture and make sure staff have access to information that is critical for them to succeed. You will work with people from across the department at all levels, from your fellow APS colleagues, to Senior Executives and the Secretary's Office. You will have an opportunity to have impact and influence across PM&C. You will draft and implement internal communication strategies and campaigns, manage content across our digital channels, and collaborate across the branch to ensure consistent internal messaging. This includes creating and coordinating content for staff newsletters, the intranet, internal events and change projects. Our internal and corporate communication is varied and interesting. The key duties of the position include We are looking for people who are comfortable with uncertainty and complexity, have excellent judgement and good people skills, and who can liaise comfortably with client areas and stakeholders at all levels to deliver communication advice and support on time and to a high standard. Our ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic, and stakeholder and project management skills, as well as experience in strategic and/or internal communications, change communications or community engagement through intranet and web content. We welcome candidates with backgrounds in government and non-government (including private and not-for-profit) who are interested in applying their skills to a diverse range of subject matters. Positions are available now and we are looking to fill ongoing and non-going roles. A merit pool will also be established to fill future vacancies over the next 12 months. The specific skills and capabilities we are looking for are: Exceptional writing and communication skills. Knowledge and implementation of the Australian Government Style guide is a bonus. Experience in developing and implementing multi-channel communications strategies and/or change communication strategies, demonstrating you know how to target audiences with the right message at the right time through the right channels. Great client liaison skills. You will work with other areas of the department to understand their communication requirements and provide strategic communications advice and guidance. Sound project management skills - you use your time wisely and can respond flexibly to meet ever changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You are a team player who is not afraid to step-up and accept a challenge or pitch-in and help the team when necessary. The ability to collaborate, exercise good judgement and pay particular attention to detail. A minimum of 3 years' experience working in a communications, internal change management or public relations role is preferred. A minimum Baseline security clearance or ability to obtain a clearance is required.
