Responsibilities Key responsibilities include: Design, implement and deliver innovative waste and resource recovery projects aligned to Council’s strategies and priorities. Oversee and build strong relationships with our waste service contractors, ensuring services are delivered to a high standard and in line with contract terms. Lead the resolution of customer issues and service requests with a proactive, solution-focused approach. Drive service optimisation by reviewing performance data, identifying gaps and streamlining processes to lift outcomes. Prepare business cases, reports and grant applications that drive innovation and funding opportunities. Provide expert advice on all things waste—kerbside services, public bins, system design and more. Develop dashboards and reporting frameworks to track performance and uncover opportunities for improvement. Research and review industry trends, policies and technologies to keep Council ahead of the curve. Qualifications About you Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences. A proven ability to lead continuous improvement projects and change initiatives in a service based environment. Innovative thinking combined with a practical, evidence-based approach to problem solving and negotiation. Lateral thinking skills to navigate complex challenges with no established precedents. Strong project management, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet competing deadlines. Initiative and the ability to work autonomously while delivering on expectations. Comprehensive research and data analysis skills to inform sound decision-making. The ability to build and maintain positive, productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Strong project and contractor management acumen. Competent IT skills and the ability to confidently use corporate systems in day-to-day work.
