Mobile Service Technician Location: Sydney or Brisbane Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Aviation About the Company: A national distributor and service provider of specialised aviation ground support equipment is seeking a skilled Service Technician to join its team. This business partners with major airlines and airports across Australia, providing critical service, maintenance, and technical support to equipment that keeps freight and passenger operations moving safely and efficiently. The Role: As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for the field service, diagnostics, and maintenance of aviation ground support equipment – including tugs, loaders, and specialised freight-handling machinery. The role is hands-on and varied, combining electrical and mechanical expertise to ensure operational reliability across client fleets. You will work directly with aviation clients & government departments, applying your knowledge of diesel systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and/or electrical systems to maintain essential equipment used in day-to-day airport operations. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical systems Perform scheduled servicing, inspections, and breakdown repairs on aviation support equipment Commission and test new or upgraded equipment Complete OEM service bulletins, upgrades, and warranty work Assist with system upgrades (PLC, HMI, CanBus, electric drive systems) Maintain accurate service reports and liaise with clients on technical issues What You’ll Bring Trade Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines A background in heavy vehicles, mobile equipment, or aviation ground support equipment is advantageous Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills Ability to interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics Experience with PLCs, CanBus, or 80VDC electric drives (highly regarded) A proactive, customer-focused approach with the ability to work independently Requirements Current Driver’s Licence Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing as required Flexibility to travel nationally for service assignments What’s on Offer Competitive salary package including fully maintained company vehicle OEM training and ongoing professional development A balance of field and workshop work with exposure to national clients Supportive team culture with a strong technical knowledge base Opportunity to work with industry-leading aviation equipment across Australia
