The APVMA's Science and Assurance program is seeking applications for Assistant Director Chemical Review. Use your scientific knowledge and regulatory experience to help the APVMA protect the health and safety of people, animals and the environment, and to support primary industries, biosecurity and international trade for all Australians. Located in either Canberra ACT or regional Armidale NSW , you will gain experience in the Australian Public Service, have access to a variety of flexible working arrangements, and the opportunity to further develop your risk assessment and risk management skills working alongside world-leading regulatory scientists. The key duties of the position include Key responsibilities may include: Manage projects related to the reconsideration of specific agricultural and veterinary chemicals and make risk-based recommendations. Evaluate scientific and/or technical evidence and apply principles of risk management in matters related to agricultural and veterinary chemicals. Ensure compliance with legislation, government decision-making processes and APVMA guidelines and regulations. Manage stakeholders through change, resolving conflict and managing sensitivities. Supervise and manage a small team and provide expert advice and assistance to team members performing technical or professional work. Prepare briefing material and detailed decision documents for senior staff and state and commonwealth government departments and Ministers. Exercise delegated decision making authority and responsibilities and ensure adherence to legal requirements and operational policies.
