We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Server Engineer to join our game development team and keep our live operations humming across mobile, console, and PC platforms. You’ll be responsible for maintaining server stability, extending backend functionality to support new game features, and collaborating with game engineers to ensure seamless integration. Reporting to a producer, you’ll work across disciplines to make sure our servers are fast, secure, and always ready for action. This is a full-time position. It is also a hybrid Office/WFH position with 2-3 days per week in our Collins St, Melbourne office (or more if you prefer). We are not taking international applications at this time. About the role: Reporting to a Producer , your responsibilities will include: Maintain and monitor live server infrastructure to ensure continuous uptime Collaborate with game engineers to extend backend functionality for new features Write and maintain server-side code using Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript Perform light database administration and optimization Troubleshoot server issues and deploy hotfixes as needed Document server architecture and workflows for internal teams About you: Engineering skills across programming languages, including C# and Javascript Experience working with databases, both relational and non-relational Experience working with with cloud providers (eg. AWS or Google Cloud) Understanding of scaling, reliability and load balancing concepts Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Skills in other areas of game dev are a bonus! Bonus Points: Experience working in a game development environment Experience administering Linux operating systems Experience with websockets and networking code Technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, HTML, CSS, Node.js, JSON Experience working with custom server architectures Experience writing automated tests Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Datadog etc. Please attach a cover letter to your application telling us a bit about yourself, the games you like, and how you think you'd fit with us in this role.
