About us The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. About the role The Senior Data Analyst supports delivery of WoVG Grants Centre's portfolio of grant programs through the provision of best practice data management, reporting and analytics services. The role sits within the Grants Data Services Team, a specialist team that is responsible for the provision of high-quality data management and reporting services specifically to support delivery of grants programs. The Senior Data Analyst is required to work collaboratively with the grant program delivery and other delivery partners to understand the unique requirements of each program and, using available technical platforms and tools, design and implement data assessment and management processes and reporting solutions that enable effective and efficient delivery of grant programs. The Senior data analyst will have specific technical expertise and be able to adapt and apply those skills to design and continuously improve data management processes to support the ongoing growth and evolution of grants data services to meet program needs. They will also be required to coordinate, support and develop others within the team to build technical capability. About you To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate: high level technical expertise in the use of data systems and the management and analysis of large quantities of data using MS Excel, SQL, Salesforce, PowerBI, and Python. Advanced conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to digest and understand complex program or technical requirements, undertake and use independent research, identify risks and issues and develop and document innovative and effective data management solutions. Ability to proactively identify opportunities / issues and make sound and timely decisions and provide high quality advice based on a consideration of facts and evidence, weighing up risks and opportunities, and with an understanding of the wider business context. Proven ability to understand and work cooperatively with team members, delivery partners and stakeholders in the pursuit of team and departmental goals; to collaborate and share information; and to accommodate and work well with the different working styles of others. Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage work activities independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team with minimal supervision and direction. Technical Skills Advanced skills in MS Excel and Structured query language (SQL) for data analysis are mandatory Proven experience in at least one of the areas - PL/SQL programming, PowerBI, or Python programming is essential. Knowledge and experience of Salesforce objects and data structures is highly desirable. Ability to understand and test data processing and data flows in a software application is essential Experience in data management in a data warehouse environment will be highly regarded Key accountabilities Undertake the role of Data Lead across multiple programs working collaboratively with the program team to understand program data management and reporting requirements and design and document the data driven assessment plans, reporting solutions and processes to support grant administration and processing Provide technical data analysis and modelling through the collection of information from GEMS/Oracle Datawarehouse and other relevant data sources and translate into assessment reports appropriate for grant program management and analysis for stakeholders across the department. Develop procedures and scripts to extract and analyse data and perform sophisticated grants program assessments and processing activities. Develop and monitor processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading between Salesforce and Oracle Cloud Data Warehouse. Setup reporting processes and prepare high quality reports to support sound and timely program management and business decision-making. Schedule and coordinate the delivery of activities across the Grants Data Services team for assigned programs, proactively monitor and escalate issues and provide advice for resolution. Undertake monitoring and analysis of grants data and identify and action solutions and initiatives to support data cleansing and data integrity Take ownership and lead development of solutions and processes in a specialised technical area on behalf of the Grants Data Services team and proactively drive continuous improvement including training and support for other team members.
