Kapture is on a mission to decarbonise diesel engines. Our breakthrough carbon capture technology is designed for seamless integration into existing infrastructure, delivering cost-effective, scalable CO2 reduction. We have ambitions to build the world's most scalable carbon capture technology that will make a huge impact. We’re a fast-moving climate tech company with global ambition, starting with deployments in Australia and scaling across major industrial markets. We have huge global ambitions and we’re assembling a world-class team. If you’re passionate about building solutions that matter – at gigatonne scale – we want to hear from you. We are hiring a Process Engineer to optimise our carbon capture device. Are you an entrepreneurial engineer that can work part of a small founding team and can hustle, is a problem solver, can think creatively and work in cost-constrained environments ? Key Responsibilities Process Flow & Design: Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs); perform mass and energy balances. Fluid Dynamics & Heat Transfer: Analyse liquid flows, pressure drops, and heat exchanger performance Chemical Reactions: Optimise CO₂ absorption and related chemical processes; recommend solvent/reactant handling strategies. Piping & Equipment Specification: Select and size pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, and materials of construction (with attention to chemical compatibility and standards). Process Safety: Conduct HAZOP, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with ASME/API/ISO standards. Simulation & Optimisation: Use process modelling tools to optimise chemical reactions, simulate and optimise carbon capture performance using Aspen HYSYS, COMSOL, MATLAB, etc. Scale-up Support: Translate lab/bench chemistry into safe, efficient pilot and field-scale processes. Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related. Minimum 2-3 years work experience Strong foundation in: Thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer Fluid mechanics and pressure drop calculations Piping and process equipment design Chemical process modelling and optimisation Familiarity with pumps, piping, valves, blowers, scrubbers, and dosing systems (from a process, not mechanical perspective). Knowledge of process safety and chemical handling standards. Hands-on experience with process simulation tools (Aspen HYSYS, COMSOL, MATLAB, or similar). Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Experience in carbon capture, gas scrubbing, or environmental process engineering. Exposure to pilot plant testing and industrial process scale-up. Understanding of materials science for chemical compatibility. What We Offer: Be part of a team tackling one of the hardest-to-abate emissions sectors Work on cutting-edge climate tech that's deployable now Collaborate with world-class partners in engineering, climate and industry Enjoy autonomy, ownership and impact from day one A deeply mission driven team and culture You will be rewarded with ESOP (employee share scheme) Details: Location: Melbourne, Australia.
