This well-known Melbourne CBD based Federal Government client is seeking a Project Manager – Capital Works to oversee the planning and delivery of a major office refurbishment project within a diverse property portfolio. The role will require you to lead all phases of project delivery, including consultation with stakeholders, development of scope briefs and engagement of outsourced providers, design consultants and contractors. Key responsibilities include chairing project control and working groups, preparing reports for approval, ensuring compliance with design and governance frameworks and managing strict budget and schedule requirements. You will also provide oversight of external project managers and technical advice on capital works initiatives. Plan, develop and deliver capital works projects within budget, scope and timeframes.Ensure projects align with the agencies design principles, strategic property objectives and governance requirements.Consult with stakeholders and user groups to define scope, requirements and outcomes.Manage relationships with building owners, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, governance, reporting, risk management and project changes.Provide leadership, oversight and technical advice, including supervision of external project managers. What is required:Mandatory 5-10 years of specific capital works project management gained from working in government agencies.Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.Knowledge of laws and statutory requirements in the built environment.Advanced contract management skills and ability to manage multiple projects.Qualification in Project Management or equivalent experience.Experience of working in similar roles within government.Due to the nature of this project, only Australian Citizens can be considered.
