About the role The Senior Policy Officer role provides strategic and policy advice as well as managing and coordinating the development and implementation of a range of policy initiatives that support the OCG and Government commitments. The senior policy officer will also support prorities of the Children’s Guardian and Aboriginal Assistant Guardian. We are seeking a motivated and resilient employee to perform the following: Research, analyse and review complex policy issues, identifying emerging issues, developing evidence-based options, and recommended solutions to resolve problems and mitigate risks. Provide expert policy advice and information to relevant stakeholders to facilitate the appropriate interpretation and implementation of policies and support Agency and/or Government policy initiatives. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating their engagement in, and contribution to, the identification and development of policy solutions and to inform policy decision making. Support legislative reform processes, including engagement with diverse stakeholders, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and consultants. Key knowledge and experience Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills Policy experience and/or project management experience in a social policy setting Community engagement experience is desirable Essential Requirements Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience. All roles within the Office of the Children's Guardian are required to have a current Working with Children check.
