As part of our Building and Development Compliance team, you will primarily conduct development compliance investigations, as well as enforcing compliance of various statutes and local laws. You are able to understand, interpret, apply and enforce legislation, and accurately convey relevant information and advice to members of the public. With the ability to work independently, you have previous experience in a public relations or customer service role which has fine-tuned your ability to communicate effectively with people in potential conflict situations, ensuring that the appropriate aspects of the law are complied with. You have an eye for detail and the ability to conduct interviews and inspections to determine if legislative or local law breaches have occurred. A current and valid ‘C’ class driver’s licence is essential, as this role requires site visits on a daily basis. Experience in a compliance role is desirable, as is previous experience in a local government. To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application: Sound negotiation and interpersonal skills. Sound analytical and decision making skills. Ability to understand, interpret and apply relevant building and development legislation including the Building Act 2011, Building Code of Australia, Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Act 1995, City Town Planning Scheme, Litter Act 1979, Local Government Act 1995, Planning and Development Act 2005, Residential Design Code and other City policies and approval processes, schemes and local laws.
