Role: As Head of Safety and Wellbeing, you’ll be responsible for shaping and executing the strategic and operational direction of health, safety, and wellbeing across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy and infrastructure projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe development, delivery, and operation of energy assets, while fostering a culture of care, compliance, and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, project teams, and external stakeholders to embed best-practice safety systems and promote psychologically safe work environments. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive safety and wellbeing strategy aligned with organisational goals Lead the design and rollout of scalable, compliant safety management systems Oversee risk assessments, incident investigations, site inspections, and audits Provide strategic advice to executives and board-level stakeholders on safety governance and regulatory compliance Establish and manage a cross-functional safety committee, ensuring timely resolution of actions Monitor performance indicators and deliver actionable reporting to leadership Identify and manage psychosocial risks in line with legislative requirements Build strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, and industrial partners Support the development of wellbeing initiatives that enhance employee experience and engagement Experience & Skills: 10 years in safety and wellbeing leadership, ideally within energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors Proven track record in developing and implementing safety systems and policies Strong understanding of OHS legislation, regulatory frameworks, and compliance standards Experience advising senior executives and boards on complex safety matters Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive cultural change Experience with governance reporting and risk/audit committee obligations Highly Desirable: Background in renewable energy or similarly complex, regulated environments Tertiary qualifications in safety, engineering, or a related discipline Familiarity with psychosocial risk management and wellbeing program design Ready to lead safety innovation in a sector that’s shaping Australia’s energy future?
