The role ALS Environmental in Wangara is seeking a Sample Receipt Officer who is committed to delivering excellent client service. This role is ideal for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a high-performing team while building practical skills in a laboratory environment. This is a full-time position with a Monday to Friday roster, working either 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM . Your day will be divided between physically collecting, signing in, and safely carrying sample eskies, and desk-based tasks such as reviewing client chain of custody documentation. You will be responsible for lodging samples, sorting them into the appropriate testing sections, and barcoding them for distribution to our laboratory teams. While this role may sound straightforward, it offers valuable experience in problem-solving, attention to detail, and task prioritization , along with exposure to a wide range of environmental testing samples and methods. Key Responsibilities Greet and assist clients both in person and over the phone Process incoming sample deliveries, including sorting, labeling, and logging into the laboratory system Review and interpret client Chain of Custody (CoC) documentation, including analytical testing requirements Accurately enter information from CoC documentation into the ALS LIMS system Liaise with internal and external clients regarding sample submissions and related queries Safely transport samples and eskies around the laboratory using provided equipment (typically up to 15kg) Maintain high standards of occupational health and safety Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with laboratory standards The essentials Ability to process large volumes of samples and records efficiently within strict timeframes Background in processing, sorting, or handling tasks (e.g., warehouse or logistics experience) Laboratory or Chemistry qualifications are advantageous but not essential Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills Professional presentation, reliability, and strong attention to detail Proven efficiency and ability to work under pressure Good computer literacy (training provided for internal systems) Capacity to absorb and retain high volumes of information Working at ALS The ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
