Maintenance Fitter - Food Manufacturing Location: Northern Suburbs | Afternoon Shift | $71/hour A leading food manufacturing company located in Melbourne's Northern Suburbs is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their team. This is an excellent afternoon shift opportunity offering $71 per hour, with the potential to transition from temp to permanent. The Role This hands-on position involves a variety of tasks including general and preventative maintenance, fault finding, and troubleshooting across a range of production equipment. Key Responsibilities Support the efficient daily operation of plant machinery Perform both preventative and reactive maintenance Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical faults Contribute to process and equipment improvements Work with pipework, valves, and process pumps Maintain screw and belt conveyors, boilers, and steam systems Service pneumatic and hydraulic equipment Operate and maintain production machinery Provide technical assistance to the production team Ensure compliance with Quality, OHS, GMP, and HACCP standards About You Trade qualified, with at least 4 years' experience in a similar maintenance role within food or FMCG manufacturing Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills Experience with CMMS systems Practical, reliable, and hands-on with a can-do attitude Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team Forklift licence (advantageous) Welding experience (desirable)
