This is a critical infrastructure project with significant public impact. The Opportunity The Senior Planner plays a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of projects by ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of project schedules. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining and updating the project schedule to meet contractual and operational requirements, in line with the Delegation of Authority Matrix. The Senior Planner provides high-quality planning submissions, supports multidisciplinary teams including Design, Contracts, Cost Planning, and Construction and ensures project control tools are accurately maintained. This role also involves proactively identifying schedule risks, delays, and bottlenecks, and effectively communicating these to relevant stakeholders to support informed decision-making and maintain project performance. Key accountabilities Manage the integration of multiple project components, ensuring coordinated efforts across all teams, Identify interdependencies and resolve potential conflicts between planning, procurement, engineering, and construction Track progress against baseline schedules using tools like Primavera P6, support preparation of Stage Gate reviews and approvals for freight-related milestones Assess the impact of design changes, scope variations, and external factors on the freight package schedule Coordinate with design, construction, and systems teams to ensure freight works integrate with passenger rail upgrades, new platforms, and signalling systems. Manage interfaces with external stakeholders such as ARTC, freight operators, and utility providers for track realignment and freight corridor access. Develop and maintain the Integrated Master Schedule for Freight Package 2, ensuring alignment with the overall program timeline Required Skills and Competencies Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project). Minimum 5 years' experience in a planning or scheduling role within major infrastructure, construction, or engineering projects. Strong understanding of project controls, critical path analysis, and earned value management. Demonstrated ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and methodologies. Skilled in identifying schedule risks, slippages, and bottlenecks, and escalating them for timely resolution.
