ENGAGEMENT LEAD Role: Full time, Permanent Position Location: Flexible - Open to candidates Australia wide THE TEAM Our primary goal is to bring down the might of the fossil fuel order standing in the way of a sustainable future – and we need your help to do it. We need a digital native who can drive our digital supporter engagement function, and help us deliver the powerful, data-driven engagement strategies and dynamic storytelling needed to change the world. This role will report to the Digital Engagement Manager and be a part of a team of experts across digital engagement, creative partnerships, social media and digital campaigning with one Digital Campaigner reporting directly to this role. We expose environmental crimes, hold companies and governments to account, promote climate solutions and inspire others to create positive change. THE ROLE As Engagement Lead, you’ll be at the heart of how Greenpeace connects with people online. You’ll develop engagement strategies that go far beyond petitions – building powerful journeys that move supporters from interest to action, through to leadership and advocacy. Key responsibilities include: Lead the design and delivery of ambitious, innovative digital engagement strategies across multiple national and global campaigns. Collaborate with campaigners, creatives, researchers and digital specialists to align engagement across channels. Guide and mentor a small team of Digital Campaigners, helping lift GPAP’s digital expertise and capacity. Monitor and analyse engagement metrics, identifying opportunities to grow our supporter base and deepen impact. Ensure GPAP stays at the cutting edge of digital campaigning, driving experimentation and innovation. This is a leadership role working across the organisation, making sure our digital engagement is coordinated, impactful, and inspiring. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE You’re a digital strategist who thrives where creativity meets data. You’re comfortable leading teams, mentoring others, and collaborating across diverse disciplines. You know how to engage people online in ways that drive real action. You’ll ideally also have: At least 4 years’ experience in digital engagement, fundraising, or marketing, including social media strategy, email journeys, and online-to-offline mobilisation. Understanding of climate and environment issues Understanding of power and how to use supporter engagement to drive change A deep understanding of online communities, audience engagement, UX and content creation. Skills in storytelling, copywriting, and user-centric digital design. Strong data and analytical skills, with the ability to adapt strategies based on audience insights. Proven experience mentoring or developing others in digital engagement. A passion for environmental and climate justice, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Functional HTML/CSS and familiarity with digital production tools are a bonus.
