Job Advertisement : Spraying Operator – Open Space Maintenance Location : Various sites across the Local Government Area (LGA) Employment Type : Full-time About the Role: We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Spraying Operator to join our Open Space Maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the application of both selective and non-selective herbicides across parks, reserves, streetscapes, and other public open spaces within the LGA. Key Responsibilities: Conduct targeted herbicide spraying to control invasive and unwanted vegetation in accordance with seasonal programs and environmental guidelines. Operate and maintain spraying equipment, including boom sprayers, knapsacks, and ATV-mounted units. Identify and differentiate between desirable and undesirable plant species to ensure appropriate herbicide application. Maintain accurate records of chemical usage, application areas, and weather conditions. Comply with all relevant safety, environmental, and legislative requirements, including chemical handling and PPE protocols. Liaise with team members, supervisors, and the public in a professional and courteous manner. About You: Experience in herbicide application in open space or horticultural settings. Knowledge of selective vs. non-selective herbicides and their appropriate use. Current Chemical Users Permit (ACUP) or willingness to obtain. Valid driver’s license (manual preferred); MR license desirable. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Desirable: Experience working in local government or contracted open space maintenance. Familiarity with GIS or digital mapping tools for tracking spray zones.
