You will be supporting teams to prioritise commissioning for digital platforms and ensure an efficient use of resources. You will help identify and line up talent for news coverage, and complete multi-platform production tasks as required. The role will also involve: Developing and maintaining a solid understanding of current events and issues, monitoring a wide range of media outlets/sources. Under routine direction of the Planning Editor, oversee the futures diary, communicate upcoming events with output platforms and relevant content teams, and initiate early planning process. Ensure planning documents are clear, detailed, accurate and up to date. In collaboration with senior editors, respond to breaking news with appropriate planning detail, calls and follow-up to ensure output needs are met. Suggest and pitch story ideas that would be of interest to new and underserved audiences and contribute to planning and editorial meetings. Assist in generating stories that are relevant to a broad section of Australians and reflect the cultural, geographic and socio-economic diversity of the country. You will have excellent communication and planning skills, and the ability to prioritise and meet production deadlines. You will also have: The ability to develop and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders to generate coverage plans and story ideas, share knowledge and increase collaboration opportunities. Ability to work collaboratively with a range of people in a team environment. Demonstrated understanding of multi-platform content production and emerging technologies. Experienced and proficient in the use of multimedia editing and production systems highly desirable.
