Job Description Purpose of your role The Senior Software Engineer role is responsible for delivering high quality code in a timely manner while leading and working with the engineering managers to design solutions as appropriate. Working in an agile environment you will provide technical leadership and senior technical expertise and support while delivering quality software. You will actively help lead the continuous improvement of our technical delivery and agile processes while positively leading and contributing to discussions and team dynamics. The Senior Software Engineer will proactively help push the technical standards and quality of the team forwards. The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for delivering high quality application, automation and testing code in accordance with industry best practice and OFX guidelines. Where required, the Software Engineer will take on the technical leadership of a piece of work by performing the function of a technical lead on a task. What you do Work closely with the tech lead and engineering managers to help improve coding practices while delivering code and participating in code reviews. Ensure code is efficient and adheres to OFX coding standards and guidelines and industry best practices. Motivate teams and promote a collaborative working environment to evolve capability and expertise. Proactively identify complex areas of code that require refactoring and technical debt and address these as appropriate. As part of an agile team, assist outside of core skills including deployments, QA and level 3 support when appropriate. Provide leadership within the product development team including mentorship and coaching. Participate in design reviews and proof of concepts. Maintain consistent and open communication with stakeholders. Qualifications Extensive experience with commercial software development. Excellent understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, and JWT. Proficiency in REST API design and secure API development. Excellent knowledge and commercial experience with modern JavaScript, specifically React.js, TypeScript, Node.js. Excellent knowledge and commercial experience with AWS solutions and environments (Node.js, CDK). Experience with Agile development methodology and practices such as TDD, Kanban, Shift Left, etc. Experience with our tech stack including AWS CDK, Lambdas, API Gateway, DynamoDB and EventBridge. Familiarity with API Gateway security patterns and token-based authentication. Commercial level experience with advanced coding techniques and practices. Application, memory and database profiling experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Extensive experience with unit testing and acceptance criteria frameworks. Advanced knowledge of relevant application architectures and frameworks. Significant experience in designing web-based, service-oriented applications. Experience with architectural design patterns and data modelling and design. Experience in distributed source control systems (Git and GitHub). Desirable Experience Expertise in Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts and best practices. Hands-on experience with Okta (including custom authorization servers, MFA, and lifecycle management). Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) such as Pulumi for identity solutions. Experience implementing Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Knowledge of zero trust security models and policy-based access control.
