The Role We are seeking a Capital Engineering Manager to lead major capital projects across their largest division with several approved projects whilst preparing business cases for other growth projects. Reporting to the Divisional Operations Manager, this role is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of significant capital works—from scoping to commissioning—ensuring safety, cost-efficiency, and sustainable outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Lead planning, execution, and delivery of major capital works projects within time, scope, and budget. Oversee all aspects of project execution, including design, implementation, and risk management. Manage project budgets, schedules, resourcing, and updates to key stakeholders. Coordinate internal and external project resources to ensure alignment and delivery. Lead EPCM (engineering, procurement, construction management) activities with rigour. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and safety requirements. Facilitate detailed design reviews, risk assessments (including HAZOPs), and contractor inductions. Drive knowledge transfer to operations and maintenance teams. Conduct post-implementation reviews and share key learnings across the business. Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement in project teams. Your Background We’re looking for an experienced, proactive, and technically strong engineering professional with a proven track record in managing large-scale capital projects in a FMCG environment. Suitable candidates will bring: Extensive experience in senior project engineering roles, within FMCG / food manufacturing. A recognised degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Strong project management skills with proven delivery of complex, cross-functional initiatives. Deep understanding of EPCM project delivery methodologies. Exceptional leadership, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills. Expertise in managing contractors, resources, and multiple project stakeholders. Experience with regulatory compliance and HSEQ systems in capital works. Financial acumen and ability to manage and forecast budgets effectively. Training in Lean, Six Sigma, or Prince2 (highly regarded). A collaborative mindset and strong alignment with business values.
