Position Overview This role reports to the Senior State Manager (VIC/SA/TAS) and works in close collaboration with the Senior Automation & Robotics Solutions Manager in Sydney . You will play a pivotal role in shaping OMRON’s regional automation and robotics strategy — driving technical excellence while laying the foundations for a future Proof of Concept (PoC) Centre in Melbourne . This will require securing government funding, university alliances, and industry partnerships to establish OMRON as a leader in advanced automation. As the regional lead for engineering solutions, you will work alongside Sales teams to design and deliver solutions, present to C-level executives, and support business transformation. This position is ideal for a senior professional who combines strategic vision with hands-on delivery, and who is motivated to make a long-term impact on both OMRON and the wider industry. Key Responsibilities 1. Proof of Concept (PoC) Development · Collaborate with the Sydney PoC and Oceania engineering teams to align frameworks, share assets, and strengthen delivery. · Prepare and position OMRON for a future Melbourne PoC Centre by driving partnerships with universities, industry, and government, and securing funding and grants. · Lead solution design and proof-of-concept delivery, integrating automation and robotics technologies to support customers’ “Factory of the Future” ambitions. · Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence across VIC, SA, and TAS. 2. Business Model Transformation & Partnerships · Support the Sr. State Manager to achieve regional sales and profit targets by co-developing customer solutions and presenting at boardroom/C-level engagements. · Drive sustainable business models leveraging PoC capabilities and expand engineering and service businesses. · Build alliances with universities, OEMs, system integrators, and industry leaders to accelerate growth opportunities. 3. Regional Leadership & Delivery (VIC/SA/TAS) · Mentor and guide regional engineers, ensuring structured processes, high-quality delivery, and adherence to safety and business best practices. · Coordinate cross-functional resources across engineering and service teams to optimise outcomes. · Represent OMRON at executive forums, trade shows, and industry seminars to strengthen market presence and influence. 4. Perform any other tasks assigned by the direct manager Requirements 1. Engineering Degree with at least 8 years’ experience in automation, robotics, or industrial solutions, including project management. 2. Leadership: Proven ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams, take ownership of results, and drive change with resilience. 3. Business Acumen: Skilled in developing compelling proposals, securing funding or grants, and shaping innovative business models. 4. Stakeholder Engagement : Excellent communication skills with a track record of building partnerships with government, universities, industry leaders, and internal teams. 5. Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of automation and robotics technologies (PLCs, SCADA, robotics, Industry 4.0) with the ability to translate technical solutions into business value.
