As an Assistant Director in the Department of Education, you will report to the Director and lead a small, high-performing team responsible for developing reporting frameworks, integrating datasets, and conducting complex analysis across financial compliance, procurement, and grant-related activities. You will play a key role in translating complex corporate data into clear, actionable insights that support departmental priorities. Working closely with policy areas, you will deliver high-impact reporting that informs key outputs such as Senate Estimates briefs, Senate Orders, Executive Board briefs, and performance reports - ensuring data is used effectively to support transparency, compliance, and strategic decision-making. A key focus of the role is identifying opportunities to drive business improvement through data analysis and reporting - enhancing the department's ability to make informed decisions, improve processes, and strengthen compliance. The key duties of the position include In this role, your responsibilities will include the following: Apply user centred design principles to ensure the development of user-friendly reporting solutions that articulate complex information into business insights that can be actioned by key stakeholders with varied levels of financial and data literacy. Integrate data sets generated from a range of systems, including AusTender, GrantConnect, SAP and FMCS, and other corporate datasets to deliver high quality reports and contribute to Executive reports, Senate Estimate briefs and Senate Orders. Maintaining internal data sets and improving reporting outcomes through simplification, automation and standardisation. Work with policy subject matter experts to analyse business requirements and develop process maps for current state and desirable future state of business problems Communicating, influencing, and collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders Leading a small team of junior analysts (1-2) across a range of reporting, data analysis and business process improvement projects.
