The team is responsible for asset management, a capital works program, and maintenance in line with adopted levels of service. The team also manages leases for local community and sporting clubs, as well as security and civil compliance matters. The City of Salisbury is a major growth hub within Greater Adelaide, supporting the State’s plan to deliver over 315,000 new homes by 2050. Significant residential developments—including the Walkleys Road Corridor and Salisbury City Centre renewal—are driving the need for sustainable infrastructure, asset renewal, and community-focused planning. About The Role We have multiple positions with a mixture of perm and contract roles available for skilled and driven Civil Asset Engineer to lead the development, maintenance, and continual improvement of Council’s Asset Management Plans. In this diverse role, you will conduct engineering investigations, modelling and reporting, while supporting civil infrastructure planning and policy development. Your work will directly contribute to the effective management of Council assets—ensuring long-term sustainability, safety, and community benefit. You will also provide sound technical advice to internal teams and respond to stakeholders including elected members and residents. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain Asset Management Plans for various civil infrastructure classes (e.g., roads, drainage, bridges).Conduct engineering investigations to assist with project brief preparation aligned to Asset Management Plans.Undertake lifecycle cost analysis and recommend investment priorities.Support planning for future development, including infrastructure modelling and concept design.Develop renewal programs and maintenance plans with defined service levels.Provide technical support and respond to asset-related enquiries from stakeholders.Contribute to new initiatives, including preparing project briefs and business cases.Evaluate consultant reports and proposals, considering community, economic and environmental factors.Liaise with key stakeholders such as government agencies, utilities, developers, and the public.Apply engineering principles to devise practical, affordable and sustainable asset solutions. To Be Successful Within This Role, You Will Have A degree in Civil Engineering or extensive experience in civil asset management.Strong experience in asset management planning, lifecycle analysis, and renewal/maintenance forecasting.Familiarity with asset systems (e.g., Confirm), asset accounting, and data collection methodologies.Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools (e.g., GIS, DRAINS, CIRCLY).Excellent understanding of legislation, Australian Standards, and Austroads Guidelines.High-level analytical and problem-solving skills to develop strategic infrastructure solutions.Proven ability to manage complex projects and stakeholder engagement.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.Demonstrated ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.A current Driver’s Licence.
