About the role: We are currently seeking a motivated and self driven Trade Assistant to join our Engineering team. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys practical work and being part of a team that keeps operations moving safely and efficiently. As a Grade 1 Trade Assistant under the Stevedoring Industry Award, you’ll perform general labouring duties to support our maintenance activities across terminal equipment and infrastructure. This position will expose you to stevedoring operations and the maintenance of equipment, with the opportunity to work alongside qualified tradespeople and technical staff in a dynamic, safety-focused environment. ey responsibilities Perform general labouring duties, including basic cleaning and housekeeping of workshop and operational areas. Assist trades personnel with maintenance tasks such as but not limited to the movement of tools, equipment, and materials. Support routine lubrication and minor mechanical servicing of equipment. Help with setup and task preparation, such as reeling cables or refuelling equipment as examples. Conduct utility readings (e.g., water and fuel meters) and escort visitors where required Assist in inspections and preventative maintenance tasks under close supervision Collaborate with the team to contribute ideas and solutions that enhance efficiency and safety Essential Criteria: A strong commitment to safe work practices Good communication and teamwork skills Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks Flexible availability to work shifts across a 24/7 roster, including weekends Ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) Current driver’s licence Forklift and Reach stacker Licence would be beneficial Why join us?
