About the Role: We are on the search for a friendly Community Engagement Assistant for a local government role based near Perth Airport, preferably someone who enjoys the escapism of storytelling and the joy it brings to others. This role requires someone who can multitask while consistently delivering exceptional customer service and being a helping hand to those in need of assistance. If the idea of historical artefacts, ancient collectables, and discovering hidden gems on the shelves excites you, we want to hear from you – tell us your story. Key Responsibilities: Deliver friendly, helpful customer service across the library and museum. Keep shelves tidy, materials in order, and displays well-presented. Answer questions about services and facilities or refer to the right team member when needed. Handle loans, returns, registrations, shelving, and user research. Check the condition of books and museum items and report any issues. Process payments (fees, fines, retail sales) accurately. Assist visitors with basic technical/computer issues. Help with opening, closing, and securing the building. Support the team with admin tasks, research, and project work as required. Help train new staff, volunteers, and work experience students on the job. Attend training and team meetings to stay up to date. Support wider team operations to ensure the smooth daily running of services. Follow the City’s policies on Equal Opportunity, WHS, and environmental safety. Report hazards and contribute to a safe and respectful workplace. Carry out other duties within the scope of the role, as directed. About You: You will be friendly, approachable, and want to help others. Good data entry and numeracy skills. Ability to work independently without a lot of supervision. Previous experience working within a museum or library setting. A good understanding of Work Health & Safety requirements. A valid WA C Class Driver's Licence. Able to undertake a National Police Clearance. This is your opportunity to enhance the experience of those visiting the centre and leave them with fond memories that last a lifetime.
