About the Opportunity We are currently seeking individuals with the skills and competency suitable for the HR Coordinator - Return to Work portfolio. As an experienced return to work coordinator you will be familiar with liaising with Workers Compensation insurance Agencies with sound knowledge around Victorian Workers Compensation legislation as well as other relative legislation. You will also have knowledge regarding the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards and be mindful of the importance of this legislation when considering best practice return to work initiatives and plans for injured workers. The HR Coordinator - Return to work will also provide support for employees whom have non-work related injuries and require workplace support in order to successfully return to their roles. The Return to Work Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that Ravenhall Correctional Centre meets injury management compliance requirements and return to work obligations ensuring the effective financial management of worker’s compensation claims. This role is also responsible for educating managers/supervisors and employees in respect to their responsibilities and obligations in the recovery at work process. Key Accountabilities Ensure workers compensation claims, non-work-related injuries and health conditions are managed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, compliance codes, guidelines and Corporate policies and procedures. Process claims documents, certificates and invoices in accordance with required timeframes, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures and workers’ compensation legislation. Liaise with WorkSafe agents, health practitioners, rehabilitation providers, claimants and relevant parties to ensure efficient claims management and resolution. Conduct regular case reviews, particularly for complex or high-risk claims, and collaborate with the insurer’s Injury and Claims Manager and external parties to identify and attempt to resolve any barriers that exist to achieving a full return to pre-injury work. Develop and assist in the implementation of outcome-focused workers compensation return-to-work plans in collaboration with injured employees, managers, and healthcare providers, facilitating effective recovery and reintegration into the workplace, whilst minimising claim/premium costs. Attend case conferences as required to assist with injury management and achieving return to work goals. Timely notification to payroll of workers' compensation claims and relevant entitlements and timely management of Insurer reimbursements and under excess payments. Provide expert advice to managers, employees, and stakeholders on claims and injury management, and return to-work legal responsibilities and obligations to ensure compliance, as well as assisting in promoting recovery at work and the health benefits to various stakeholders. Conduct in-depth investigations into workers' compensation claims, employing rigorous evidence-gathering techniques to validate the legitimacy of claims, thereby safeguarding the organisation from fraudulent or inaccurate claims. Support on-site post injury function assessments or identification of suitable duties to facilitate a worker’s safe return to work. Communicate regularly and work closely with the Claims Officer, Claims & Litigation on work and non-work-related injury cases, including ensuring workers are aware of their entitlements. Under supervision of the Human Resources Manager, manage legal aspects of claims, including data collation (including but not limited to circumstance investigations), and reporting for common law claims and other legal defenses. In consultation with the Human Resources Manager administer, coordinate and manage fitness for duty requirements. Track and analyse claims performance, identifying trends, monitoring costs, and provide actionable insights to improve claims management processes. Handle all employee medical and injury-related information with confidentiality, maintaining a high standard of professionalism in managing sensitive claims. Coordinate, administer and manage employee health records including and not limited to employee vaccinations. Maintain the injury management and return to work software ensuring all claims are up to date and accurate and that case notes are comprehensive and accurately captured. Coordinate and advise on the implementation of fit for purpose and operationally relevant injury management and return to work policies, procedures, toolbox talks, training and development materials, systems, process and any other relevant documents. Advise on the development and delivery of assigned injury management and return to work initiatives. Prepare for and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement, including but not limited to ISO accreditation/s. Assist in the development and delivery of assigned wellbeing projects and initiatives. Ensure compliance with all Company Policies and Procedures and the Governance, Risk and Compliance Manual. Key Selection Criteria Required Skills and Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in workers’ compensation management, including hands on experience in claims and injury management in a complex and large organisation. Return to Work Coordinator Certification. Strong working knowledge of Victorian Worker’s Compensation and Injury Management legislation. Demonstrated proactive, impartial approach and success in handling complex claims, forging rehabilitation and return-to-work plans that are both structured and adaptable, focused on a swift yet safe reintegration for injured workers and reductions in WorkCover costs. Demonstrated management in administering workers’ compensation payroll requirements and wage reimbursements in accordance with legislative requirements. Strong negotiation and stakeholder management experience to work collaboratively and build working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders in a complex environment to achieve optimal claim resolutions. Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills, with an ability to prioritise and manage workload, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances. Demonstrated high regard and understanding of maintaining privacy and confidentiality for staff recovering from injury. Demonstrated experience in providing specialist advice and support to people leaders. Capability to apply discretion and sound judgment in managing sensitive matters and highly confidential or sensitive information. Demonstrated experience in utilising effectively and efficiently information technology systems for the management and administration of workers’ compensation and injury management. Desirable: Knowledge of Health Assessment Standards and regulations. Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Rehabilitation, Personal Injury Management, Allied Health, or Mental Health. Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety. Current Senior First Aid and CPR certification. Other Requirements: Ability to work within a correctional setting, which will involve direct contact with prisoners. Valid and current full Australian driver’s licence. Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
