The EL1 Assistant Director is accountable, under broad direction, to undertake complex or sensitive work relating to risk oversight and management within the Agency. They will also independently lead one of the following governance functions under the Agency's system of internal control. The key duties of the position include Audit and Assurance Responsibility for managing the Agency's Assurance Framework including the oversight of the internal audit preparation, finalisation and recommendation action in cooperation with the Agency's external audit provider and responsible internal business owners. The internal auditors provide independent objective assurance and advice to the Board, the Audit & Risk Committee and the Chief Executive Officer, that the financial and operational controls are operating in an efficient, effective, economical and ethical manner and assist management in improving business performance. Governance, business planning and performance measurement Responsibility for managing the Agency's Governance Framework Responsibility for managing the Agency's Planning and Performance Framework including monitoring and quality assuring performance measures on a quarterly basis, culminating in the development of the Annual Performance Statement for the Annual Report. The EL1 Assistant Director will support the Director, Governance Services, in efficient and effective delivery of section outcomes. They will demonstrate independence, sound decision making and judgement in their provision of specialist advice relating to risk oversight and management or their respective governance functions. The EL1 Assistant Director will exercise initiative and proactiveness in engaging with internal and external stakeholders regarding complex problem solving and issue management. They will develop and facilitate educational and communication initiatives to embed a positive risk culture across the Agency and improve business strategies. The EL1 Assistant Director is responsible for providing leadership and management to a small team of direct reports.
