The Senior Claims Consultant is accountable to the Director Workforce through the Work Health Safety and Injury Management (WHSIM) Manager for contributing to an effective Injury Management (IM) system for SA Ambulance Service (SAAS), ensuring legislative compliance, and deliverable sustainability that will support best practice and continual improvement in accordance with the applicable legislation and regulations, SA Health Policy, and relevant public sector award entitlements. Key Responsibilities: Complex Claims Management and Resolution Provide highly effective claims management consultation services to injured employees and management within complex medical, legal, industrial, and public sector environments. Proactively resolve claims and compensation matters while determining barriers to effective management and developing strategic solutions through stakeholder consultation. Legal Representation and Financial Determination Represent South Australia Ambulance Service at the South Australian Employment Tribunal, negotiating appropriate resolutions for workers' compensation disputes within financial delegations. Determine and apply entitlements for Permanent Impairment Assessments and Additional Compensation claims. Return to Work Programme Leadership Lead preparation of comprehensive file reviews including claimant return-to-work goals and progression assessments. Collaborate with Return-to-Work Consultants to effectively manage work-injured employees in accordance with SA Health policies, ensuring optimal return-to-work outcomes. Stakeholder Relationship Management Lead discussions regarding workers' compensation activities and establish positive relationships with injured employees, treating practitioners, line managers, union representatives, human resource personnel, and senior management to facilitate effective claim resolution. Policy Development and Expert Advisory Services Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of government and departmental injury management policies and procedures. Provide expert advice, consultation, and assistance to departmental personnel on injury management legislation, processes, and principles through formal and informal training. Mentorship and Continuous Improvement Provide coaching and mentorship relating to claim management functions to Injury Management and Administration personnel across SA Health and within South Australia Ambulance Service. Engage in external audits, internal reviews, and conduct regular analysis to support continuous improvement objectives at individual and team levels.
