Primary Role Statement An Audit Analyst is primarily responsible for coordinating staff members below them to coordinate the audit and deliver an audit file that addresses all key risks identified in conjunction with their supervisors. The audit senior is a key person being groomed for future leadership responsibility, and will also work with their supervisors to develop their skills in this regard. Standard Responsibilities for Job Designation 1. Identify client needs and value added services that we can provide to a client. Understanding how to source the right person to address those needs. 2. Provision of on-the-job training for other colleagues as required including supervision of graduate and intermediate work and conducting training sessions. 3. Monitor capacity/productivity budget vs actual monthly. Contribute to discussion on team productivity performance and other KPI’s. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of business structures and intra group transfers. 5. Contribute to the development of firm’s business strategy. Specific Responsibilities for Job Designation 1. Is involved in the continuous improvement of the application of Caseware to LP audits 2. Completes audit procedures and work papers on complex audit issues such as Intangibles, WIP etc. Discusses the audit approach to these sections with the Supervisor/Manager 3. Design specific audit procedures for unusual account balances and transactions. Document these procedures and prepare appropriate workpapers to outline procedure performed 4. Prepare the Audit Planning Memorandum and Client Service Plan documents 5. Monitor document flow to client to ensure that all administrative documents are sent/received on a timely basis. Liaises with PA support to ensure that these documents are filed and received on a timely basis. 6. Prepares financial statements for Supervisor/Manager review, including review of XYZ updates. 7. Prepare more complex disclosure (Financial Instruments, Errors) 8. Prepare a cash flow statement for all entities 9. Suggest and draft specific disclosure for review by Supervisor/Manager (Going Concern, Accounting Policy notes, Subsequent Events) 10. Review Management Letters prepared by junior staff for content/grammatical errors 11. Draft complex management letters and other reports for review 12. Prepare a concise report on simple technical matters 13. Any other accountabilities or duties as directed by your supervisor which are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training. 14. Coordinate a group of more junior team members to complete audit fieldwork and deliver an audit file for reviewers. Skills, Knowledge and Experience (including qualifications and professional association memberships) 1. University graduate with minimum of 2 years professional exposure and membership (or studying for) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants or CPA 2. Comprehension of accounting concepts with an ability of using in practical application 3. Proficient understanding of Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook 4. Proficient understanding of computerised accounting packages i.e. Caseware, APS and MYOB 5. Knowledge of the Corporations Act and an ability to suggest areas of client relevance to Team Leader 6. Knowledge of business performance issues and ability to identify key indicators. Ability to suggest areas of advice to Team Leader and solutions in areas of cash flow/solvency, business improvement, management reporting 7. Demonstration of initiative 8. Adherence to standards of professional presentation in standards of dress, punctuality, work ethic and team commitment 9. Sound technical ability in audit and accounting 10. Understands how to develop specific disclosure in Caseware financials, and insert appropriate disclosure notes specific to the audit client 11. Leadership ability to the extent that others in the group recognise the person as a leader 12.
