With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hourâs drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourneâs North is fast    Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Social Workers. to join the Social Work Department.    Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourneâs rapidly growing outer north.  Services are provided through our five main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.  About the Role: An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Grade 2 Social Worker to join the team at Broadmeadows Hospital in a fixed term maternity leave capacity.  This position is fixed term full time until October 2026 â covering maternity leave.  The Grade 2 Social Worker will be accountable for providing quality patient care through the application of competent clinical skills in assessment, planning, implementation of treatment and management. The role is a full-time fixed term position providing Social Work services on Unit 3, a GEM (geriatric Evaluation and Management) unit at our Broadmeadows Hospital. The successful applicant may also be required to work on other wards as clinical demand and skill mix requires.  The Social Worker will work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The Social worker will respond to inpatient referrals as required and provide psychosocial assessments and interventions to patients and their families.   The Social Worker will be responsible for practicing at an Intermediate Practice Level in accordance with the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment & Management (MARAM) Framework.  This role will require flexibility to be able to provide efficient responses to referrals combined with other non-clinical components such as providing education to staff, innovation and quality improvement, participating in relevant meetings, and contributing as a member of the Sub Acute Social Work team.  This position is responsible for: Responding to referrals to Social Work from allocated ward. Participating in a Quality Improvement Activity Completing all data sets Supervision of Grade 1 Social Workers and Students Contributing to Social Work initiatives  To be successful in this role you will have: Significant experience in undertaking comprehensive psychosocial assessments & interventions. Significant experience in practicing patient centred care. Experience working with family violence victim survivors and completing MARAM risk assessments and risk management plans. Demonstrated experience in prioritising and independently managing complex social situations. Well established effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a multi-disciplinary team. A demonstrated commitment shown to ongoing professional development. Dedication and demonstrated involvement to Quality Improvement. Experience in education, support and supervision to Grade 1 Social Workers and/or students. Experience working with the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of our community. Well-developed interpersonal skills including conflict resolution and negotiating skills.   Next Steps . . . If this opportunity sounds like the next step in your career, then we would love to hear from you.
